Songs of Faith and Devotion is the eighth studio album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode. It was released on March 22, 1993. The album marked a departure from their previous synth-pop sound, incorporating a heavier, more rock-oriented sound influenced by grunge and alternative rock.
Songs of Faith and Devotion was a critical and commercial success, reaching number one in several countries and becoming Depeche Mode's first album to debut at number one on both the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. The album spawned four singles: "I Feel You", "Walking in My Shoes", "Condemnation", and "In Your Room".
